Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved with the Wildlife Resources Division and Georgia's natural resources. These opportunities range from careers with WRD and other Georgia natural resource organizations to simply enjoying the outdoors and all that Georgia has to offer. In fact, this entire Web site is dedicated to providing information to help Georgia residents and visitors get involved and stay involved in natural resource activities.

Youth Birding Competition

This 24-hour birding event is held annually in spring. The competition allows teams (representing schools, Scout troops, 4-H club, science clubs, etc.) to compete with other teams their age and count as many species of birds as they can in Georgia. The 2012  event is set for April 27-28, with the banquet and awards ceremony planned at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center near Mansfield. The 2011 event featured about 100 contestants (results). For more on the 2012 competition, see this registration brochure (pdf), online guide and T-shirt Art Contest details.
